[She's said time and time again that she isn't frightened, but Nanami is trembling when it comes time to really come home, shuffling behind Snow with her gaze fixed on the ground. It isn't home, really, like her home was--it's somebody else's. But she can't go back there, either, for reasons.

No one's asked her why yet, and she's thankful they haven't, but maybe it would help to have someone understand.]

Will y-... [And, not knowing what to expect, Nanami's voice becomes a little meeker, and she looks up at Snow with watery eyes, her face flushing oven-hot.]

Hold my hand?

[ He's been throwing periodic glances over his shoulder, just to make sure Nanami hasn't fallen behind completely. For all his recklessness and charge-right-in approach to... everything, Snow can be fairly patient when he needs to be. Sort of. Occasionally.

Either way, it's enough for now. He blinks, then grins, sticking out one giant hand to cover Nanami's with. ]

Don't lose it in there. [ Seriously, that's a huge size difference. His smirk fades just a touch as the seconds tick by. ] You gonna be okay, kiddo?

[She curls her fingers into a fist that feels tiny and powerless in the scoop of his hand.]

I don't know.

[She's never been anywhere that wasn't home before--not counting the moon, or the city, or the countless missions she's been on, or India, that one time...

Well, she's never been anywhere that mattered.]

What if I'm all alone there?

[She doesn't want him to think she's some weirdo, but Snow isn't really related to her in any way, and he could just leave her behind at the next turn. Nanami's eyes sparkle with tears; she can't even bring herself to manipulate for his affections.] What if I get lost?

Alone? [ He doesn't mean to laugh, really, but it rumbles deep in his chest. ] Kid, you'll be lucky to have a minute to yourself. Just wait 'til you meet the rest of NORA. They're gonna love havin' you around.

[ Nanami's a handful, sure, but if Lebreau and Serah can handle the gaggle of idiot manchildren already around them, she won't pose any real problem. At least she has the excuse of actually still being a kid. ]

Pulse is a big place. Three years and we still haven't mapped most of it. [ He shrugs, and reaches over to ruffle her hair with his free hand. ] But everyone's friendly, and they're all looking for a new start. You'll fit in just fine.

A big place no one's explored yet sounds like the perfect place to get lost, [she mumbles so that it's hard to hear her. If he isn't paying attention, it's possible Snow wouldn't notice anything different at all.

Nanami ducks away when he goes to ruffle her hair, making a series of small, agitated sounds.] Hey! What's the deal? You can't just mess up a lady's hair. [Nanami has a lot to touch him about how to deal with young girls. As long as they have the time.]

I want to stay with you. [She says it quickly, as if suddenly she's realized that he's telling her all about these other people because he plans to push her off on them.]
